Crocheted objects, dyed sisal and linen fiber, and iron

In Memoriam
In the turbine hall, Brynge Konsthall, Kerstin Lindström shows an installation in three parts - Inheritance, Dark Matter and Girls I-III. The starting point consists of two crossed iron rods 170 x170 cm hanging from the ceiling. With femininely coded techniques and materials, a room is created where the story of the witch trials is connected to a long tradition of vulnerability and misogyny. Crocheted objects of plant fibers colored in red and black contrast with mute metal. Organic fragility meets hard materials. Inspired by the site's previous activities, flax fiber is found in the work.

The Great Noise is the second edition of the Västernorrland Triennial, which runs from 14 June to 21 September 2025 at ten locations in the region. The contemporary art festival takes its cue from the 1675 witch trials in Ångermanland, which were the worst in Swedish history, where over 70 innocently convicted people, mostly women, were executed.

350 years later, the Triennial brings together 32 artists under the artistic direction of Helena Byström, director of Konstfrämjandet Västernorrland, and Karolina Aastrup, curator and former head of the image and form assignment at Västernorrland Museum, who together developed the theme and curate all exhibitions.
